Vice President, Asia-Pacific, Leica Biosystems
Walt Ling is the Vice President of Asia-Pacific for Leica Biosystems, a company focused on the diagnosis of cancer. In 2016, Leica Biosystems’ APAC region was the fastest growing region at Leica Biosystems accounting for much of the firm’s worldwide growth. Walt is responsible for commercial operations and business expansion strategies in the region.
In his leadership positions, Walt has concentrated on increasing diversity and creating a culture of acceptance. At Leica Biosystems, Walt has assembled an ethnically and gender diverse leadership team in which over 40% of team members are women. Walt also has also been instrumental in developing work related volunteer programs where members of his organization have opportunities to give back to the community. Almost all employees under his area of responsibility at Leica Biosystems have participated in such programs, benefiting children with cancer, underprivileged families, and the homeless.
Prior to Leica Biosystems, Walt was the Managing Director for Southeast Asia, Korea, India, and ANZ for Teleflex, a medical device manufacturer. During his tenure, Walt successfully developed a culture of teamwork and nurtured a group of strong leaders. In 2015 his regional leadership team was recognized by HR Magazine as one of the top three companies in Singapore for outstanding leadership – as voted by employees.
Walt has an MBA from the J.L. Kellogg School of Management and a BBA from the University of Texas at Austin. He is also a member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) Singapore Chapter, and the Kellogg Alumni Association of Singapore.
