GM Shell Europe Lubricants

Vanessa Boag is General Manager for Shell Europe Indirect Lubricants business, leading a diverse, commercial organisation. She joined Shell after graduating from Cambridge University with an MA in Business & Languages, and has worked more than 20 years in Shell, covering most major businesses in Downstream including Retail, Lubricants and Aviation.

In the early part of her career, Vanessa developed a strong foundation in the operational side of the business before progressing into senior commercial roles. She has wide global experience having lived in China for 3 years and Netherlands for 6 years. From 2011 Vanessa joined the Shell Aviation business including being appointed as GM for the Global Aviation lubricants business in 2017. After successfully leading outstanding turnaround growth in that business area, Vanessa was appointed as the GM Europe Lubricants in 2020.

Vanessa has a passion for ‘making peoples lives better every day’ which includes developing those around her and she mentors several women at Shell. She is a member of the Global Business Women’s Leader Council. Vanessa lives near London with her husband and two young children.
