Sue Gannon

Sue has spent most of her career studying what it takes – intellectually and emotionally – to be an exceptional leader. Over her career Sue has had extensive experience in art and science of leadership philosophy and development, designing and facilitating leadership development programs and experiences for leaders across the world.

Sue is currently the Deputy Chief Operating Officer, Global Development and Diversity at Suntory Holdings, based in Tokyo, Japan. Sue moved to Tokyo in July 2017 and leads Suntory University that provides leadership, cultural and business development programs aimed at advancing Suntory’s vision to be a world class talent developing company. Sue is also responsible for the advancement of Suntory’s Global diversity agenda, which is aimed at the advancement and development of women across the globe.

Prior to moving to Suntory Holding, Sue was employed with the Beam Suntory business, in the role of Vice President Human Resources, leading the strategic people and organization agenda for the Americas region and Global Marketing organizations, providing performance consultation and strategic decision support. Sue joined Beam Suntory in March 2012 to lead the global talent and development agenda for Beam Inc and in this role focused on a wide variety of disciplines, including leadership assessment and development; employee engagement; performance management; diversity and inclusion; talent acquisition and change management.

Prior to joining Beam, Sue spent eight years at the Campbell Soup Company, serving in a number of key roles, including Director, Global Talent Management, based out of Campbell’s headquarters in New Jersey and various roles within the Arnott’s Campbell’s Asia-Pacific business, including HR Director, Asia / Finance / IT; HR Director, Strategy & Talent Management; HR Business Partner and Change Manager. Prior to Campbell, Sue led change and learning teams at a number of businesses based in Australia, and New Zealand.

Sue is a graduate of the University of New South Wales in Sydney and has received certificates in Learning and Development and Human Resources Management from Sydney TAFE College.

Sue was born in Sydney, Australia and has lived and worked across the globe, including USA; UK; New Zealand; Sydney, Australia; and has worked across Asia in Indonesia, Malaysia and China. Sue, her husband and two children now call Tokyo home… for the time being!
