Manoj Adlakha

SVP & Country Manager – India Business and CEO, American Express Banking Corp., India

 

 Manoj Adlakha is a veteran of American Express and a highly respected leader with over 30 years of experience. As the CEO of American Express Banking Corp. India, Manoj works closely with the Reserve Bank of India and other regulatory institutions to successfully enable the growth of AmEx’s India businesses against the backdrop of a dynamic and fast evolving payments environment.

 

Manoj leads the India Country Executive Team (CET) that is responsible for driving financial results and developing growth strategies for American Express’ domestic payments business. He heads the India Consumer business, Brand & Marketing functions and provides leadership oversight to the company’s Commercial cards and Merchant businesses. He also chairs the company’s India Leadership Team (ILT), a body that comprises heads of all India based Centers of Excellence and key business partners responsible for further strengthening the American Express Brand in India. Manoj is the Executive Sponsor for American Express’ India Inclusion & Diversity chapter.

 

He is part of US-India Business Council’s (USIBC) 11-member India Advisory Council. This India-based leadership team supplements USIBC’s Global Board and represents USIBC at key engagements in India to advance the policy agenda.

 

Manoj has spent nearly 25 years with American Express in two phases. In the first 15 years, he held positions of increased responsibility in Risk Operations, Strategic Planning, Finance and Consumer Cards. He then left to pursue external opportunities, first as an entrepreneur and then in banking and financial services in India and Singapore. He re-joined American Express in March 2009 from Visa International Singapore, to lead the Global Commercial business followed by Consumer Cards and Merchant businesses in India.

 

He has several internal & external accolades to his credit including ‘India’s Most Trusted CEO’ by World Consulting & Research Corporation (WCRC) in 2017.

 

Manoj is a Chartered Accountant and has a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) degree from Shri Ram College of Commerce, New Delhi.
