J. Norwell Coquillard
Chairman Enactus China, Chairman of IMA Asia Forum Shanghai
J. Norwell Coquillard currently serves as the Chairman of Enactus China, the China operations of Enactus, the U.S. based non-profit. Enactus, which operates in 37 countries, equips and empowers university students to use their entrepreneurial spirit to create social enterprise projects that help improve the standard of living of disadvantaged groups. The organization is supported by major multi-national and Chinese corporations.
Mr. Coquillard also serves as the Chairman of IMA Asia. China. IMA runs CEO peer group forums across Asia and provides economic and political analysis to corporations.
Prior to assuming these roles he was the chairman and president of Cargill Investment (China) Limited, the China operating company for Cargill Incorporated of the United States in China. Before coming to China in 1998, Coquillard served as the country manager for Cargill operations in Japan and Korea from 1984 until 1997. While president and chairman of Cargill’s China operations the company was awarded the U. S. Secretary of State’s Award for Corporate Excellence in 2008. This award recognizes the best U.S. Company overseas in terms of its commitment to its host country.
Coquillard served as the Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai for calendar years 2008 and 2009. In addition to his role as chairman he has served as an officer of the Chamber for a number of years and recently concluded a three year term as the Chairman of the Chamber’s Food, Agriculture and Beverage Committee.
Mr. Coquillard is a recipient of Shanghai’s Magnolia Award which is given to foreign residents who make a significant contribution to the city.
Coquillard is a graduate of Dartmouth College in the United States.
