Carlos Barroso is the founder and President of CJB and Associates, a boutique food and beverage R&D innovation firm offering Chef-to-Shelf® product development. His firm works with companies ranging from startups to Fortune 100 companies. Prior to founding CJB, Mr. Barroso worked with The Campbell Soup Company as Senior Vice President of Global Research and Development and Quality (R&D) where he was a member of the Leadership Team and reported directly to the CEO.

Before that, Carlos was Senior Vice President of R&D at PepsiCo, where he oversaw all R&D efforts for PepsiCo Foods, including Frito-Lay North America and Quaker Foods and Snacks, a $27 billion business with more than 800 R&D associates. He played a key role in driving the company’s international growth by leading successful global new product development.

Carlos previously worked in R&D at Procter & Gamble (P&G), where he held roles of increasing responsibility in the company’s paper and coffee divisions in the U.S., Italy, and France. He has published articles and presented at conferences worldwide on topics including Open Innovation and developing winning innovative products. In addition, his significant expertise in flavor science has resulted in two patents.

Mr. Barroso earned his B.S. degree in chemical engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, where he has served as Chair of the External Advisory Board for the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. He is a trustee for the Ga. Tech Alumni Association. Carlos has an MBA from Arizona State University. He serves on several for-profit and non-profit advisory boards.
