Tara Deakin joined Spin Master in June 2019 as Chief People Officer. In this role, Tara has accountability for articulating and driving the human capital strategy for the world’s 4th largest children’s toy and entertainment company (www.spinmaster.com). With a scope that includes core HR operations, talent acquisition, talent management and employee experience, Tara is lead advocate for Spin Master’s employees distributed in 30 countries around the globe. In addition to her human resources accountabilities, Tara is the lead executive for Spin Master’s communications and corporate citizenship activities.

Prior to joining Spin Master, Tara served as Chief Talent and Development Officer for TD Bank Group. Tara’s mandate was to grow the power of TD’s 95,000 colleagues, while attracting new talent to ensure the bank’s future growth and ongoing delivery of legendary customer experiences. Talent acquisition, talent management, organizational development, learning, employee experience as well as diversity and inclusion were the core components of Tara’s portfolio was a member of the Human Resources Operating Committee, and Co-Chair of the Colleague Experience Council.

Tara has 20 years of experience and progressive positions in the field of talent, learning and organizational effectiveness. Prior to joining TD, She was Managing Director and Chief Learning Officer for the Consumer division of Citi Group where she had accountability for the onboarding, development and operational readiness of the banks customer facing employees. Before joining Citi Group, Tara was Chief Learning and Enablement Officer at Rogers communications, where she held a number of increasingly senior roles driving the organization learning and effectiveness strategies.

Tara holds a BA from the University of Western Ontario, and has completed post graduate work at Central Michigan University in adult education and organizational development. In 2009, Tara was awarded a Leadership Fellowship from the International Works forum, which included advanced studies at INSEAD and Harvard.

Outside of the workplace, Tara currently serves on the Board of Director’s for St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation (https://stmichaelsfoundation.com/), is Board Director and Chair of the Human Resources Committee for GoEasy Financial (www.goeasy.com). Previously, she was Board Director and then Chair of the board for the Association for Talent Development (www.td.org).
